2018 Upcoming Wellness Events & Transformational Festivals
Imagine this: The year is 2012. I’ve arrived to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, fake ID in hand, VIP wristband around my wrist, and pasties doing their best to stay adhesive on my sweaty boobs. It was the first Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas and boy, have I changed since then.
While late night dance parties fueled by Red Bull aren’t really my thing anymore, the festival girl within me has never died. The community that comes together at festivals is unlike any other and I always find myself longing for that connection after festival gates shut.
What is a wellness event?
This year, you’ll still find me at festivals, running around and soaking it all in, but the name of the game is no longer “What DJ are you seeing?” Instead, I’ll be en-route to the top wellness and transformational festivals California has to offer. These wellness events are chalked full of inspirational and motivational speakers ranging from mindfulness to Ayurveda. Instead of vodka shots, I’ll be sipping back wheatgrass shots and learning from the greatest minds in holistic health, fitness, and spirituality.
Wellness events bring people together without the pressure of drinking or taking drugs. Instead, there is a general awareness of treating the body, the mind, and the planet as best as we can - while having tons of fun learning how to do it.
There will be yoga, there will be music, and there will absolutely be matcha. I. CANT. WAIT.
The Best Health & Wellness Events of 2018
Big or small, wellness events and festivals can be found across the country, but here are a few of the ones I plan on attending in 2018. Will I see you there?
When: February 3rd, 2018
Where: Hudson Lofts, Los Angeles
Originally from Philadelphia, my girlfriend, Allium Awake Retreats, told me about GOOD Fest last year and I have been counting down the days until I get to attend the February day-long event at Hudson Lofts in Los Angeles. The event brings together all of the female thought leaders in the wellness industry for a day of good company and GREAT information.
You can find me flowing during Jordan Younger and Sophie Jaffe’s yoga class, in the front row of Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential’s keynote, or soaking up every word of Sahara Rose’s Ayurveda panel.

When: March 1-4, 2018
Where: Turtle Bay Resort, O’ahu
I’m sure by the name you can understand why I am practically jumping out of my chair to hop on a plane and stake out my campsite at Wanderlust O’ahu. Filled with yoga, adventure, music, and great scenery, Wanderlust O’ahu has been on my list for quite some time so I can’t wait to make this a reality! From acro yoga with Koya Webb to flowing with Caley Alyssa, I can’t wait to camp on the beach and immerse myself in the community that Wanderlust has so beautifully cultivated.

When: May 23-28, 2018
Where: Lake San Antonio, Bradley CA
Lightning in a Bottle is the perfect synergy between old party Ava and new wellness-oriented Ava. There is great music throughout the entire weekend - think Bob Moses (yum), Flume, Chet Faker, and more (previous lineups). Lightning in a Bottle was the catalyst that showed me what community really meant. What social responsibility looks like and how to have a good time while still respecting the planet and the people around you. I love this festival with every ounce of my body.
From yoga to cooking classes to Amori’s Casino, there is bound to be something there for everyone - even the kiddos! To learn more about Lightning in a Bottle or purchase tickets going on sale on 1/18, visit their website here.
