Alohilani Resort Review: The Preferred Life in Waikiki Beach

Stepping off the plane in Honolulu, we were greeted with a traditional lei welcome. It had been ages since I last flew to Hawaii. Plus it was mine and Corey’s first time spending time in O’ahu. The humid air frizzed my hair instantly. My anticipation and excitement grew as we made our way to our Uber. Of course, I had done tons of research on outdoor activities throughout the island. And I was eager to check into our hotel in Waikiki Beach, Alohilani Resort.

Alohilani Resort in Waikiki Beach

Regardless of where we go, I always look for hotels that have sustainable initiatives. So it was much to my excitement to find Alohilani Resort and their luxurious offerings when searching online. Alohilani Resort is located steps away from the emerald waters of Waikiki Beach. It boasts the most Insta-worthy saltwater infinity pool overlooking the beach. Even better, Alohilani Resort has absolutely everything a wellness-junkie would need when traveling. From the tennis courts, TRX, and batting cages at Island Club + Spa to the yoga studio and traditional indoor gym, Corey and I were in heaven during our three-night stay at Alohilani.

The Resort

Upon checking in, we were greeted by Jill at the front desk and more magenta and white orchids that I quickly adorned my frizzy hair with. Jill was so helpful at checking us in and making us instantly feel like royalty. Alohilani has received tons of press since their opening and has even been featured in AFAR, so it is no wonder we felt like ohana the moment we arrived.

Customer service is huge for me. Coming from the hospitality industry, I have high standards. Each and every staff member at Alohilani went above and beyond to make our stay and those around us so enjoyable. If that wasn’t enough, our room had the most drool-worthy ocean view and balcony. We enjoyed our complimentary coffee and green tea there every morning.

Alohilani Resort Amenities

Usually, when Corey and I travel, we use hotels as our “home base” and adventure from there. However at Alohilani we did not want to leave AT ALL. The resort offered so many incredible amenities for absolutely everything we could possibly want to experience.

The Swell bar and pool deck called us from early morning to sunset with the picturesque view of the ocean and decadent tropical drinks mixed by Chad (who is AMAZING!). Each evening they offer live music on the deck and every single artist we watched over the romantic fire pits truly made the experience feel like such a serene vacation. We rarely disconnect from our work and this was the first time we felt like we could breathe easily.

Next, I have to rave about the fitness amenities again because this is the first time in all of my travels I’ve actually felt covered as a yogi. Alohilani has a huge yoga studio with all the props my heart could fathom and allowed me to stay connected to my practice throughout our entire stay. If you have been following along, you know I stopped practicing yoga during my entire trip in South America, so I am so grateful Alohilani supports those that put their health and wellness first.

Lastly, Corey and I had so much fun on the ninth floor at the Island Club + Spa. When we first arrived, we goofed off and played tennis together while a group training session was going on for other hotel guests (how cool is that?!). They also have batting cages which made my teenage self giddy with joy - and yes, I creamed Corey in the cages!

Overall, Alohilani has some of the best amenities I have ever seen at a resort and if you are big on amenities, you MUST stay here.

Drinks + Dining

The hotel has three different dining options. Including the newly opened Morimoto Asia restaurant that we ate at on our first night. Morimoto is world-renowned from Iron Chef. Every element of the restaurant showcased that. You can choose from a la carte plates or dim sum. Of course, I did both and sat with a happy, full belly.

As I mentioned earlier, the Swell Bar and pool deck had top-notch drinks and spins on classics that wowed us. The bartender, Chad, was incredibly kind and mixed us some tropical drinks. Including my favorite Funky Monkey that also doubled as a dessert.

In the morning, you can mosey down from your hotel room to Lychee, Alohilani’s breakfast buffet. They offer high-end choices of eggs, protein, Japanese fusion, an omelet bar, and amazing pastries. I loved sitting against the wall that shared the glass with the resort’s stunning fish tank. Which you can see from the lobby and restaurant + bar (pictured above).

Staying At Alohilani Resort

Overall, I feel spoiled from my stay at Alohilani Resort. I can’t imagine a better experience than the one we had! From the luxurious ocean view room, incredible staff, high-end amenities, and walkability to the beach. Alohilani has made a name for itself as the top resort in Waikiki Beach for couples, families, and business travelers.

I had such an incredible time at Alohilani Resort that they are offering all Kicking Asana readers a complimentary ocean view upgrade when you book! Rooms are subject to availability, but visit this link to start living #AlohiChic like me!
